High speed train between Houston and Dallas project under development

The high speed train from Houston to Dallas is one step closer of becoming a reality. This could mean that a 4-5 hour drive between the two metro areas could be reduced to a 90-minute train ride.
Texas Central High Speed Railway is the company behind this project, partnering with Central Japan Railway for this undertaking. The Japanese company has experience in working without help from taxes, which is something Texas Central wants to do, according to Robert Eckles, president of the company.
The Federal Railroad Administration and the Texas Department of Transportation have begun work on an environmental impact statement for this proposed 240-mile high-speed rail system.
