Construction of the Bluejack National golf course, which was announced earlier this year, has begun in Montgomery County, with an expected opening date in fall 2015.

This new, 18-hole golf course was designed by Tiger Woods Design and will be located at the former Blaketree National Golf Club site at 4430 S. FM 1486. The construction crews of Media Golf Inc. have begun working and are refurbishing the course lake and several amenities.

According to Casey Paulson, Bluejack National principal, officials are hopeful to have the course and a handful of amenities ready to play by the slated date of fall 2015.

“We will open our various amenities in sequence over two or three years,” Paulson said. “We are focusing on everything right now. From a timing standpoint, the golf course is probably our key focus right now but we are focused on all the amenity areas.”

PGA Tour pro Mark O’Meara has  been named as the player ambassador for Bluejack National. O’Meara, who lives in Houston, will feature the Bluejack National logo on his golf bag, attend events on behalf of the club and practice at Bluejack National once the club’s golf facilities are completed.

The complex will also include a course for short-game practice, The Playground, which will also be accessible to casual family and friend outings. This course was also designed by Tiger Woods.

The 755-acre development will also feature other amenities such as The Porch, a place for players to relax; The Fort, which features a bowling alley, movie theater, a game room, a pottery room, a classic American hamburger restaurant, zip lines, an archery range and sports courts; the Blake Fishing Dock; and a golf club, which will feature additional dining options.

There will also be 400 private residences, with options ranging from member suites to cottages, Sunday homes, and estate home sites. Larger facilities will also be available for retreats, outings, conferences and entertaining guests. Paulson said the natural aspects of the property make the Bluejack National development a prime location for golf.
