Downtown Houston Condos

Downtown Houston condos are close to the largest business district in the city. Downtown Houston contains the headquarters of many prominent companies. This area was the original founding point of the city of Houston. Downtown real estate is a 1,178-acre area subdivided in several districts: The Historic District, Main Street Square, the Skyline District, the Sports & Convention and the Theater District.

Developers have invested more than 4 billion US$ in the first decade of the 21st century to transform downtown into an active city center with residential housing, a nightlife scene and new transportation. The Cotswold Project was a $62 million project started in 1998 and helped to rebuild the streets and transform 90 downtown blocks into a pedestrian-friendly environment by adding greenery, trees and public art. The new Main Street was opened in January 1, 2004, which is a plaza with many eateries, bars and nightclubs, which brings many visitors to a newly renovated locale.

This area is home to over 150,000 workers and 3,500 businesses. Despite that, only about 3,500 people reside downtown.
