In the past, Woodlands residents who wanted to access the best Black Friday deals had to gas up and make a trip to Houston. Now, they only need to wake up early and take a short drive – or a long walk – for retail steals.

Almost all the shops in the area are offering discounts and extended hours, and neighborhood organizers are ensuring that shoppers won't just find good sales, but that they'll also be entertained while heading from store to store.

Market Street will host a synchronized light show, happening every hour on the half hour from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the 70-foot Christmas tree in Central Park. The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center is located at 2005 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands, 77380, near the north gate entry of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and the intersection of Lake Robbins Drive and Six Pines Drive. As The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion’s 2018 season comes to a close, Pavilion officials have already begun announcing performances for the 2019 season.

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is a nonprofit organization and performing arts facility that opened in April 1990 at 2005 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands. The venue presents between 50-65 performing arts events, educational outreach programs and contemporary entertainment annually between March and December.

Visitors should note approved bags to take to the Pavilion include clear and opaque bags smaller than 8.5 inches by 11 inches, 1-gallon plastic freezer bags, diaper bags and bags that are medically necessary.

A ranking of best places to live in the United States by niche.com lists three Texas communities in the top 10 of the category Best Cities to Live in America, including The Woodlands at No. 7. Niche.com, a site that ranks communities and amenities across the nation, used data and feedback to generate its 2018 Best Places to Live rankings.

The site says the list "provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall livability of an area".
