The high speed train from Houston to Dallas is one step closer of becoming a reality. This could mean that a 4-5 hour drive between the two metro areas could be reduced to a 90-minute train ride.

Texas Central High Speed Railway is the company behind this project, partnering with Central Japan Railway for this undertaking. The Japanese company has experience in working without help from taxes, which is something Texas Central wants to do, according to Robert Eckles, president of the company.

The Federal Railroad Administration and the Texas Department of Transportation have begun work on an environmental impact statement for this proposed 240-mile high-speed rail system.

Houston’s real estate market is as hot as ever. There has been almost three full years of positive sales and inventory has just hit 40-year lows in these recent months, according to the Houston Association of Realtors.

According to Olivia Puscinelli, from the Houston Business Journal, price have hit record most months in the past couple of years, due to the high demand and low supply. The most wealthiest areas of Houston is where prices have risen the most.

The average single-family home sales price saw year-over-year increases between 6.6% and 22% each month, according to HAR. The median sales price increased between 5.4 percent and 18 percent each month. For the full year 2013, the median sales price increased 9.4 percent from 2012 and the
